Extracomm Inc. is proud to announce the availability of ExtraFax 8.0. This new major release contains many innovative new features, essential enhancements and critical fixes as described below.
What's New in ExtraFax 8.0
* New features and enhancements - This version contains the following useful new features and enhancements:
- ExtraFax now supports installations on Windows 7.
- ExtraFax now supports the use of the Brooktrout 6.2.4 drivers.
- Integration with SAP for sending and receiving faxes directly from an SAP environment.
- Built-in server monitoring probes and configurable alerts.
- Built-in Code 39 (3 of 9) Barcode generator.
- Availability to use Skype for sending SMS-Text Messages.
- Web-based Port Management Console to view the real-time port console messages. No more need to access the operating system!
- Cover Page Wizard for creation of fax cover pages directly from the Lotus Notes client. Now there is no need to have development skills for making cover pages!
- Ability for end users and administrators to preview what the available fax cover pages look like before deciding whether or not to use it.
- New option to embed an image of the first fax page into the Sent Log.
- Capability to insert stamp images into a fax image during the fax approval cycle.
- Reminder notification for pending approval jobs.
- Display the ExtraFax server status and license type information in the Server Configuration view.
- iNotes Integration (Full Mode): users can specify various fax options when composing faxes.
- Enhanced billing calculations for SMS Text Messaging and MMS.
- Enhanced the least-cost routing feature for SMS Text Messaging and MMS.
- The inbound routing sequence is now configurable from the ExtraFax Server Configuration document.
- ExtraFax Print-to-Fax Client: enhanced support for Unicode in the Body field.
* New fixes and updates - ExtraFax 8.0 contains several fixes and updates since ExtraFax 7.0.4:
- Fixed a bug when parsing the ExtraFax cluster list, if the list contains a server name that has a space among the characters.
- Addressed some issues related to the IVR features.
- Resolved some transmission issues related to Brooktrout fax boards.
- Addressed some transmission issues related to fax modems.
- Addressed some issues relating to the ExtraFax Bot.
- Optimized the Export Sent/Received Logs to Excel/CSV feature.
- Support for hiding the fax header line in outbound faxes.
- Enhanced User Preferences lookup by adding support for the SMTPOriginator field.
- Introduced a new SMS "Local" loopback port for the ease of demonstration and troubleshooting.
- The Approval/Preview Log is now able to display all the recipients of the outbound message.
- A new parameter in the ExtraFax Server Configuration document to define the Internet mail address.
- A new fax job parameter to exclude adding an image mask to fax attachments.
- Fixed a bug when archiving Sent Logs.
- Fixed a bug when sending Approval/Preview requests and notifications back to the principal sender.
- ExtraFax Print-to-Fax Client: support use of "comma" as the recipient delimiter.
- ExtraFax Print-to-Fax Client: fixed a problem when previewing a fax image if the system temporary path contains a space among the characters.
* Discontinued support of fax boards - The following fax boards are no longer supported beginning with ExtraFax 8.0:

For new installation, please:
1. Follow the installation instructions mentioned in ExtraFax Installation Guide.
How to upgrade from a previous version of ExtraFax:
Important: Please make sure you have a valid ExtraFax 8.0 license key before upgrading. License keys from any previous version are not compatible.
You can upgrade to this version if you have purchased our Maintenance Plus Plan.

* SMS/MMS port is under license (port/channel) control.
For ExtraFax Enterprise and Standard licenses, SMS/MMS port will be counted as one fax board channel.
For ExtraFax Lite and UltraLite licenses, SMS/MMS port will be counted as one fax modem port.
Upgrade Procedure:
1. Backup your existing extrafax.nsf and make note of any customizations. In advance of upgrading ExtraFax you should make sure that the design elements in your extrafax.nsf are not marked as "Prohibit design refresh or replace to modify"), otherwise the database design upgrade process may not complete properly.
2. For Brooktrout fax board users, backup the following files from Domino/Notes program directory (Brooktrout 4.9.1 or earlier version drivers), or from C:\Program Files\Brooktrout\Config directory (Brooktrout 5.2 or greater version drivers).

3. For users of Brooktrout TR1034/TruFax/SR140, if you are currently using Brooktrout 4.7.1 - 6.1.0 driver, please download and reinstall with the latest Brooktrout 6.2.4 driver.

4. Run the ExtraFax setup program to start installing the latest version of ExtraFax. You can perform in-place upgrades. There is no need to un-install the previous version of ExtraFax before installing ExtraFax 8.0.
5. Following the installation of ExtraFax, when you start ExtraFax it will automatically upgrade the design of extrafax.nsf (Highly Recommended) if you have chosen to do so as prompted in the setup program.
6. Following the completion of the automatic design upgrade, manually apply any previous database customizations (if any) to the post office database (extrafax.nsf) if necessary.
7. You will now be prompted to specify the ExtraFax license key during the ExtraFax Server installation process.
8. Restart the ExtraFax server and test to confirm that it is running normally.
